“Let yourself be silently drawn by the strange pull of what you really love. It will not lead you astray.”
Yeah… Nice words Rumi… But I’m not quite convinced…
Not since I heard this monkey’s tale…
The monkey swings from branch to branch, all merry on his way, he flits and darts at will to what ever catches his attention next…
One night by the light of the full moon, monkey’s eye was caught…
What is that?
So big… So full… So round… So shiny…
I like it! I like it a lot!
I want it!
So down he reached and he reached down as far as he could stretch…
but still he could not reach it.
And he hung and he hung by the light of the moon…
and he waited…
and he reached..
Until finally he fell…
Now… there are two versions of how this monkey’s tale ends… Some say he fell to a watery grave…
And at this point…being as I list massage therapist in my long list of many talents… I should probably exercise more caution… But I’ll say it anyway…
I do like happy endings!
So… I prefer the tale where the monkey lands on his back when he hits the water and looks up to see the moon in all its full true beauty above him…
Great! I also love the version of all the plums “in the water” and after almost drowning the coyote looks up and sees them all up in the tree… and of course convinces the racoons to go get ALL those plums in the water.

Oh… I’d not heard the one about the racoons and the coyote… They sound like they could end up in my big old sketch book 😀 Cheers!
