Around and around and around…

There are 3 things that have been circling me lately… The Sun… The Ace of Pentacles and the Ouroboros…

So… a round and a round and a round…

And when did these begin to show up?

When I noticed a pattern that has been repeating in my life…

There have been 3 occasions where I’ve decided to follow new interests… and along side each one, has arrived company that feels the need to tell me just how I should be doing things and pointing out to me how I am going wrong… or I’m not good enough… or I should stick to what I know and stop making a fool of myself…

And always this information is delivered as being for my own good and that they only have my best interests at heart…

Funny thing is… this never comes from people who actually know anything about me…

So… I think to myself… Well… once is unfortunate… Twice is careless… Three times… Now that’s a pattern…

So… I asked myself… what should I be learning here?

And then somebody else started showing up…

Dear old Hanged Man…

So… I sat with him a while and we had a little chat and he said… Karen my lovely… you are way too easily distracted by pretty colours… Take away all the colours and see what you can hear…

So… I took some black card and a silver sharpie and I stripped him down to the bare bones…

And to my mind came Odin and the Yggdrasil tree… so I reached for my runes as well… and as HM is XII, which is basically a 3… I took out 3 runes and cast them to the Hanged Man…

 

And it really does make me laugh, that my runes have such a rockin’ sense of humour…

So there I have Eihwaz, associated with the Yew tree… Sowelu, associated with the Sun’s energy which has plopped itself down right on top of the ouroboros that sits on the HM’s tree… And there bursting out through the border is Teiwaz… The rune of the spiritual warrior…

And I was going to wax long and lyrical and then it occurs to me, that all I’ll be doing is repeating what the HM has already told me… and I am getting tired of the lather, rinse, repeat cycle…

And then instead of being distracted by colours, I find myself wandering off for a touch of I-Ching…

The Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 6, verse 5… and I think HM will dig this…

Lift up the self by the Self

And don’t let the self droop down,

For the Self is the self’s only friend

And the self is the Self’s only foe.
