Give us your take on the influence of the Sun and/or Mercury in the Tarot or your favorite oracle deck…
This amused on several levels… firstly I guess, because… well… I am just so easily amused in general! Secondly… In my Astrological birth chart, I have 5 planets hanging out in Virgo which is ruled by Mercury (I also have a wry smile at the thought of Virgo corresponding to The Hermit… and wander off sideways to wonder if that has anything to do with me often being asked as to whether I’m a very noisy introvert or an extremely antisocial extrovert… )
Thirdly… Last blog hop, I was spinning around with my personality card The Wheel… So Mercury brings to mind my Soul Card – The Magician… and The Sun… well that brings out the 3rd card in my birthcard pairing… My Shadow card is the Sun…
So all these thoughts and a few more I forget whirl around and soon I’m heading away to play with Night Sun Tarot… I lay out my Birth Chart Mandala to see what I can hear…
I say…pssssst…. Merc! What are you talking about?
He hisses back… Merc? Call me Hermes… I’m talking about Psychopomp and Circumstances…

So I pull out all the cards where these two appear and I shuffle them up and ask again…

So… this is what it’s come to… Our glory days coming to an end and here we are… sitting it out somewhere in a bar near the ending of our Universe… We used to be so revered… One by one they turned against us…
I know what you mean man… Time was when they believed in Magic… and now when I levitate… They don’t believe it… they mock and say I just sit on a barstool… Breaking down every little detail… over analysing us to death… Still… I guess the advent of that new religion didn’t help me… and all that stuff about thou shalt not and ‘Do not make any gods to be alongside me; do not make for yourselves gods of silver or gods of gold.’ I’m Mercury Man… yet I still get tossed out with the golden calves…
Well… bottoms up my friend! Here’s to the past and who knows what the future will bring… Do you think we’ll ever be glorious again…
Who knows… all things go around… and speaking of which… I’m getting a bit short on Dinars… Any chance of you getting a round in?
Well… I’d like to mate… though I’ve been advised to save a few quid for a rainy day…

Yeah… that’s easy for you to say… you’re used to being foot loose and fancy free and going wherever your whims take you… Some of us have to be solid and stable… some of us have responsibilities, dependants…
Yeah, yeah, yeah… I’ve heard it all before… I get it! You are the centre of the Universe! Well… if you want to stay in your rut, then that’s all fine and good by me… but yeah… I have wanderlust… And I think I’ve just heard them call ‘Last Orders!’ So… Let’s make it one more for my baby and more for the road…

Your posts are like a breath of fresh air, always. I love them, and I love seeing this Night Sun deck as well, which seems quite interesting. I am yet another Mage, Wheel, Sun person….we should start a club! With all the fire and air it’s sure to be an intriguing time! 😉

Yep, I got it. Please don’t ever give up your wondrous stream-of-consciousness style (unless you just want to for yourself). This style can be a dangerous one in that you do take the risk of losing folks, but, please remember that you are a master at it, and you use humor so deftly and naturally that it’s a fun ride no matter where it goes. 🙂
